What you get is the sharp, pungent mustard oil that Odia and Bengali households have cooked with for generations, not the muted, over-processed version that sits in most refined-oil bottles. Alongside it, the Pink Rock Salt is mined and only minimally processed, so it retains trace minerals and a subtly different taste and texture compared to common refined table salt, which is typically washed, bleached, and treated with anti-caking agents.
Together, these two ingredients form the actual base of most Indian cooking — the oil you heat first, and the salt you add to nearly everything after.
